ABOUT  Michaela

Michaela Salvo always said she was born an artist. She has always idolized moments, happy and sad, and felt enthralled to capture them. The art of Photography found her later in life. She became so inspired that when she was about 11, she saved up all her money and bought a little pink Fuji Film point and shoot camera. She used this camera to document family trips which was her first real experience with documenting through photography.

When she was 13 she spent most of her summer at Appel Farm Performing Arts Camp. There she took classes in photography and fell in love with film. This is also when she started to dive into the world of portrait photography. One of her favorite projects during this time was a portrait series that captured people's passions. The idea behind this was to take photos of people doing what they love and capturing the passion in their eyes.

In high school she took graphic design classes and became the Editor of Visual Design and Photography for the school yearbook as well as a photographer for the school paper. When she turned 17 she was mentored by photographer Susan Grace. She taught her many things including how to light portraits and surreal images using natural light.

She recently completed two years studying Studio Arts at Camden County College and is transferring to the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in the fall to earn a BFA in photography. Currently she is being mentored by photographer Magdalena Kernan who is teaching her the business end of photography.

Photography is Michaela’s whole life. She is currently a Portrait, Surreal, Real Estate, and Documentarian Photographer. She loves traveling and taking photos of people and she hopes to do it for the rest of her life.
